Cockapoo ear infections

Cockapoo tend to get ear infections, as with many other different dogs with pendulous ears. They tend to have a lower aeration of the ear passage and are prone to bacterial infections, fungal infections, seborrhea, and fungal infections. These lead to middle/inner ear infections in your cockapoo. Signs your cockapoo is having an ear infection is where it starts scratching it's ear excessively, and in extreme cases, unable to walk properly. They lose their balance due to the ear infection which occurs near to their brains.

Chronic Ear infections

In the event your cockapoo has a case of chronic ear infections, surgery may be necessary.

What you can do for your cockapoo's ear infection

However, on your part, you could use ear cleaning solutions (ask your vet) to help clean your cockapoo at least once a week to keep infections to a minimum.

Alternatively, to help aerate the ear, you could send your cockapoo to a professional groomer. A professional groomer could greatly reduce the occurrence of ear infections by keeping the ear canal free of hair. They would shave the area under the ear, where the flap is. Close shaving could help aerate the ear and keep your cockapoo happy and free from ear infections.
